Jenn Shaw is a New York City based filmmaker raised in the beautiful bluegrass of Lexington, Kentucky. Since graduating from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, she has established roots as a director-writer with a captivating vision for TV and film with a HUGE LOVE of the sports genre. Her well-rounded expertise has proved a valuable asset for companies including Time Inc., Showtime Networks, Google/Youtube, NBCU and MSN. In 2008, she was granted access to the Obama for America presidential campaign as a documentary/digital filmmaker. This role jump-started her brand working as a green-light field director/producer for MTV’s award winning documentary series “MADE” and directing a series called “Home Court Advantage” for Bleacher Report. She has directed several short scripted films exhibiting at major festivals including Big Apple, Orlando, and Hollywood Black.
As an award winning producer, Jenn headed production at ESPN CreativeWorks until mid- 2015. Her film “$15 Kicks” , executive produced by legendary filmmaker Spike Lee, won a Black Reel award as best independent short film. In 2017 she was nominated for an American Pavilion Emerging Filmmaker Award at Cannes Film Festival. She is represented for commercial directing and freelancing with clients such as Aveda, Korbel, McGraw Hill, Complex and NFL Network. She recently wrapped directing a digital series Football Town and an hour documentary “The Superbowl That Wasn’t” for NFL Network. Her feature script “Lollies” is in pre-production after being a 2nd rounder in AFF and 1st rounder in the Sundance Writing Program. In addition, she’s working on a new feature script outlined during the Sundance Institutes’s 2018 CoLab Writing Intensive workshop. Currently, she’s on contract producing and directing content for RYOT Studios in NYC.
Jenn’s directing style is a combination of edgy cinematic storytelling, quirky humor, and dramatic flair. As an artist, she is influenced by the support of family, friends, and her love of crafting strong character driven stores for all platforms.
